Our Story
Horizon Mobile was born in 2020 when our founder, Jamie Chen, became frustrated with the complicated plans, hidden fees, and poor customer service offered by traditional mobile carriers. After spending hours on hold with customer service only to be hit with unexpected charges on her bill, Jamie decided there had to be a better way.
She assembled a small team of industry veterans who shared her vision: to create a mobile service that prioritizes simplicity, transparency, and customer satisfaction. Working out of a small office in Austin, Texas, the team spent eighteen months developing a lean business model that would eliminate unnecessary costs while maintaining high-quality service.
Horizon Mobile launched in early 2022 with just three straightforward plans and a commitment to complete pricing transparency. We promised no contracts, no hidden fees, and customer service that actually cared about solving problems.
The response was overwhelming. Within our first year, we grew to serve over 100,000 customers nationwide. Today, we continue to expand our offerings while staying true to our founding principles. We remain independently owned and focused on providing the best possible mobile experience for our customers.
What hasn't changed is our commitment to clarity. While other carriers may be content with the status quo of confusing bills and lackluster service, we're working every day to raise the bar on what customers should expect from their mobile provider.

Jamie founded Horizon Mobile after 15 years in the telecommunications industry, including leadership roles at major carriers. She holds an MBA from UT Austin and is passionate about creating business models that align company success with customer satisfaction. When not reimagining the mobile experience, Jamie enjoys hiking with her rescue dog and volunteering as a coding instructor for girls in STEM programs.
Marcus leads our technology strategy and operations, ensuring our systems run smoothly and securely. Prior to joining Horizon, he spent a decade building scalable infrastructure for several successful tech startups. Marcus is committed to creating intuitive digital experiences that make managing mobile service effortless. He's an avid cyclist and hosts a popular podcast about technology accessibility.
Sophia oversees our customer experience, from support operations to user interface design. With a background in both psychology and user experience design, she's dedicated to creating service interactions that leave customers feeling heard and valued. Before Horizon, Sophia led customer success teams at several Fortune 500 companies. She's a published author on customer-centric business models and coaches youth basketball in her spare time.
